About us - who we are

The County Councils of Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland, and more recently North Tyneside, Enfield and Merton, have joined forces to develop a service to help those working in or considering offering childcare.

Since 1998 Early Years Development and Childcare Partnerships have been given the key role of developing and sustaining childcare in local authority areas. Part of this work involves advising those offering childcare and those considering doing so.

The area of the three original partner Counties, three quarters the size of Wales and with a population of 1,288,267 is covered by three Business Support Officers, the task for those individuals is clearly enormous.
Delivering high quality and sustainable care is a key factor for the development of this website, the other key factor is the realisation that because of the huge area the County Councils cover, the three people employed to help childcare providers cannot possibly offer the support needed.

Childcare is in a constant state of change, with up to date information being of paramount importance – this website will offer this and build a community, your community, your childcarecommunity.com.
