Northumberland's Childcare Sufficiency Assessment is on its Way!The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment is on its Way!Northumberland County Council is asking parents and childcare providers about the sufficiency of childcare throughout the County, through a childcare survey. The County Council has a statutory duty under the Childcare Act 2006 to manage the childcare market. Rosemary Hendry, Early Years Organisation Manager, said: “We’re asking parents and carers across the County to support this survey in order to gain an accurate picture of the type of childcare that is needed. This is so important when assessing the sufficiency of childcare provision which benefits so many families.” The survey will be distributed through schools, childcare providers and Children’s Centres. Parents will also give their views through focus groups. Different areas will be targeted too, starting with the County’s Central area covering Morpeth, Pegswood, Bedlington and Choppington Children’s Centre areas. Parents and providers in the Central area can expect to receive the questionnaire during the first week in January 2010 and are asked to return them either via the freepost envelopes provided or through their school by Friday 22nd January 2010. The survey will also be available online before Friday 22nd January 2010. Every parent who responds will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 of high street shopping vouchers. The results of the survey will be published online and made available to the public early 2011 when the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment is complete.
