Careers in Early Years, Childcare and Playwork

So you think you would like to work with children and young people, but are unsure about the particular job you would like to do or what age of children you would like to work with, then why not enrol on a ‘Making Choices’ orientation course.

What is ‘Making Choices’?
Making Choices is a free, 15 hour programme usually delivered over 6 sessions. The course is designed to help you make an informed choice about whether working in childcare is right for you. To find out about ‘Making Choices’ in your area contact your local early years training and recruitment officer.


What personal qualities will I need to work with children?
The most important thing is that you will need to like children as working with children can be a very demanding but rewarding job. You will need to be patient, enthusiastic and have a great sense of humour.
